First impressions matter. Make sure that you are coming into your scenes already connected. The average human attention span is now officially shorter than a goldfish after falling from 12 seconds in 2000 to now just 8 seconds! So, don't assume a casting director is going to watch your entire tape.Have a clear moment be…

Deadline released this really interesting article today contrasting various action heroes throughout cinema history. It made me think about the kind of action heroes that we'll likely see moving forward. I'd love to know the community's thoughts on what makes a great action hero or heroine, and what kind of action star…

I’m an aspiring actor moving to Atlanta in August. I’m looking to sign with a talent agency, and I had a few questions. 1) I was wondering how far in advance should I be reaching out to agencies? Should I be working on signing now or wait until closer to my move in date? 2) I know my photography portfolio is important,…

Hi night owls! I am an IMDB credited screenwriter looking to make my first short film (5-6 minutes) the catch is… I learned about this competition late and need to submit my final film by 10am PST (in 10 hours!) and I slacked on finding voice talent! I am looking for the following roles. For all roles please be over 18…

I love acting. Or, at least, I used to. Lately, that voice in my head telling me that I'm crap has been growing. It nags at the back of my mind while I perform, robbing me of the joy of being fully present as somebody else. At times, it even threatens to take me out of the scene. I want to be able to just have fun play…

I posted in r/animedubs and received some hate over this, particularly why the same voice actors are given opportunity and why I'm not seeing much diversity when it comes to the anime voice acting. There are seasoned POC anime dubbed voice actors who have been around as long as their counterparts but I notice that typi…

I am finding it difficult to find stable housing in LA without proof of employment despite having savings and good credit. As an actor, how did you get approved for an apartment if you don't have a full-time regular job?

I know this might sound stupid or something but it has always been my dream of going to the movies and watching a film with me casted as a main character. I auditioned for a feature film a few weeks ago to play the news reporter, they came back and asked my agents if I would take the lead role. Hey everyone! Something I seem to be struggling with a lot is the process of “de-roling”, or coming out of a character after a rehearsal/ show is finished. I do have some ongoing struggles with mental illness & a tendency to dissociate, which I think makes de-roling a bit more tricky for me than for other friends I kno…

Music producer Max Martin will often tell a singer to change their pronunciation by putting emphasis on a different syllable of any word, because that pronunciation will sound more "catchy".
