I'm not gonna jump head first into the characters and stuff just yet. For now, just looking for some simple voice over work, like for ads and stuff. Can anyone point me in a direction?

Hey r/acting! I'm 19, from Chicago, fairly confident in my looks, and finished my first year of college in Upstate New York. I'm looking for ways to start taking acting seriously and start getting more experience. I started off in high school by complete accident as I walked into the wrong classroom. Teacher asked me t…

This was posted by one of our leads in the film I recently AD'd. It absolutely made my day and I wanted to share that if you are a new or aspiring actor you CAN ABSOLUTELY ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS. 10 years ago I had no experience as an actor, as a writer, as a producer. a coach or a director. Keep learning, keep growing in…

I just interviewed Broadway Veteran Peggy O'Connell ("My One and Only") about her new book "Prudence Pickle Presents: Etiquette for Professional Actors". The interview and book are full of all the unspoken rules of the theatre and film sets and many professional and beginning actors don't realize how many of these rule…

Hi guys, It's my first time posting here so hope this is an okay post. I have an audition for the 1 year course at the Oxford School of Drama in a couple of days, and this also happens to be my first ever audition. I have my 2 monologues sort of prepared (Iago's 2nd soliloquy from Othello and an exert…

Hi, I'm just at the beginning of my path as an actor, and I'm trying to find my personal artistic process (or method, if you like). So far I've read "On acting" Meisner, "The Intent to Live" by Larry Moss, and some Stanislavsky. I know that many actors go through a different process for each role they play, but I'd lik…

I live in Prince Edward Island (Canada) and to my knowledge there’s not a single acting agency in the province. I’m wondering if - in general - agents are willing to take on an actor if they live in different province than them? Or even just rather far from them? (Apologies if I did any of this wrong, I’ve never posted…

I was thinking about how a good actor cant really become famous or popular if they star in a bad movie because everyone will hate it. But what if an actor isn't very good but stars in an extremely popular movie or show? I've seen little youtube skits and what not where the actors seem really passionate and good about t…

Hello All, I'm looking for some genuine feedback on my very first project. I've watched a lot of videos on what it would take to be a voice actor / narrator. The one that got me started was Sean Pratt's "So... You want to be an audiobook narrator". This is not being done for any financial gain. I'm pursuing this as a p…

I've seen this question before but it was quite a while ago so I thought I'd ask again: can anyone recommend some really great classes in Sydney Australia? There are plenty of crappy classes in Syd (ironically ones held at a world famous school) and I'd like to know if there are any that are actually recommended. I'd p…

After a few decades of not acknowledging how people have commented on my voice in a very positive manner, I have decided to relinquish to the compliments and accept that I am blessed with a unique trait. Describing my current emotional range verbally and facially as ‘stoic’ would be a compliment. For example: After yea…

How did you prepare? What was the guidance from the director? I'm afraid that I'm not going to do well in one take, and getting ready takes time. Not sure how many takes we'll have, but it will guarantee me a close up. Also, did you use that scene in your showreel? A friend told me that it's important to show different…

Hi, I’ve recently been wondering a few things... 1. I see a lot of BTS for shows and bloopers, does the production team not get annoyed or tired?
