Usually when you see people posting about making a decision on whether to pursue acting professionally and major in acting, a lot of people will advise that the OP should choose another major and continue to act as a hobby. I'm currently in NYC (starting my MFA this year) and this is where I have the most connections and the strongest network. Personally, though, I'd like to eventually move to LA. My wisdom after talking to lots of actors in person, is to **wait until I have a reason to move**. Does r/acting agree with this? For example,…

While Broadway is a massive industry here, every primetime and cable network casts out of NYC and there are dozens of network, cable and streaming series that film here. This is a very common misconception among actors. Law & Order SVU, Blue Bloods, FBI, FBI: Most Wanted, New Amsterdam, Bull, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,…

Hey guys, I'm a singer, rather than an actor; but I perform in a style that's unusually narrative and story oriented, with lots of influence from David Bowie, Nick Cave & Leonard Cohen. Over the last year or so, I've discovered my singing is limited less by my technical abilities, and more by my control of my speaking…

Hey, I don't know anything about acting, but I love some actors like Freddie Highmore. His acting is always superb and I think he is a genius. It seems to me that what makes him superb is: As for other good actors/actresses, it's like they make a mold of the character's body and get inside it. Or they make a mask or bo…
